USC SSC APPEALS FOR ACADEMIC BREAK

/ 15 October 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos Supreme Student Council has called for a week-long academic break to protect the mental health and promote the general welfare of the students.

“We aim to create a safe and enriching environment for the faculty’s and students’ mental health through ‘MWAH’ or Mental Wellness and Awareness on Health,” USC SSC said in a letter to Fr. Jesuraj Anthoniappen, SVD.

The student body said that the request echoes the general sentiment of the Carolinian community that students need a breather to save them from mental distress.

“As representatives of the studentry, we deem this week necessary for us to have a genuine academic break to recuperate from the stress and challenges from online classes,” it said.

The group expressed hope that school officials will grant its request.
