USC PROF NAMED 2025 OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR IN PHARMACY
A PROFESSOR of the University of San Carlos has been named the 2025 Outstanding Professional of the Year in Pharmacy by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Leonila Macuto Ocampo was honored for her contributions to pharmacy practice and education, co-authoring training modules and collegiate textbooks still widely used nationwide.
“Her achievements have not only raised the standards of pharmacy in the country but also continue to inspire future pharmacists,” USC said.
“This distinction reflects USC’s mission to cultivate leaders who excel in their professions with innovation and compassion,” it added.
Ocampo graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from USC in 1979 and placed 8th in the Philippine Pharmacists Licensure Examination.
From 2010 to 2014, she served as president of the Philippine Pharmacists Association, where she established regional chapters and spearheaded initiatives such as the Philippine Practice Standards for Pharmacists and the passage of the Philippine Pharmacy Act of 2016.
She currently leads the Hygieian Institute for Education, Research and Training, Inc. and the Asia Pacific Institute for Medication Management, Inc., both dedicated to advancing pharmacy research, training, and patient care.
The Outstanding Professional of the Year Award is the highest honor given by the PRC to professionals who exemplify excellence in their fields and are held in high esteem by their peers.
