USC COMPUTER ENGINEERING STUDENTS SHINE IN INNOVATION OLYMPICS

COMPUTER Engineering students of the University of San Carlos in Cebu won several awards in the LEAR’s 7th Innovation Olympics held last month.

The group of Paul John Toral, Jhury Kevin Lastre, and Jeff Anthony Bernales were declared champions.

They were recognized for their project, “Development of an Imaging System for Microplastic Sample Identification Using Convolutional Neural Network.”

Meanwhile, Krystelle Timtim, Jhaycee Acain, Thomas Lee Castro, and Louille Glen Benatiro’s secured the first-runner up title.

Their project was titled “Development and System Integration of Lab in a Box (LAB): A Raspberry Pi-based Portable Electronics Trainer.”

Dr. Luis Gerardo S. Cañete, Jr. acted as the adviser of the two USC teams.
