ACCOUNTANCY students of the University of San Carlos in Cebu emerged as champions in the National Round of the Deloitte Tax Challenge 2023.

Team Happy and Deloitted was composed of Nefalin Demafiles, Danielle Mae Louise Go, Christian Ian Omandam, and Lawrence Sarigumba

“This marks the first time that a Carolinian team won the championship in the said competition,” USC said.

Meanwhile, Go also received an Individual Speaker Award for being the second-best speaker.

The Deloitte Tax Challenge comprised three phases: video presentation, essay writing, and the national round.

Out of the initial 37 teams nationwide, only ten made it to the final phase where they were tasked to create a written memo and an oral presentation in 90 minutes.

Aside from Team Happy and Deloitted, USC also sent two other teams composed of fourth-year Accountancy students, who placed 4th and 5th.

They were accompanied by Atty. Jun Marlon Denila.
