UPV WINS REGION VI’S BEST NSM AGENCY AWARD
FOR the third consecutive year, the Statistical Society of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV StatSoc) has cornered again Region VI’s prestigious Best NSM Agency Award.
The award was presented at the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) Closing and Awarding Ceremony held last week at the National Museum of the Philippines in Iloilo City.
Mary Arnelyn Andres, StatSoc president, accepted the award, crediting the dedication of the members, faculty advisers, and the entire UPV Statistics community.
To celebrate the occasion, UPV StatSoc organized a range of events, including the annual region-wide Statistiktok and E-Poster contests for high school students, in partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region VI.
Other key activities included Stat-Shirt Day, Free Statistics Consultation, the Statcasm meme competition, and a three-part session on AI and Statistics in Digital Marketing with Rethink Data.
Weekly campaigns, such as Stat Facts and Stat Data Blunders, along with the co-hosted Western Visayas Junior High School Regional Statistics Quiz with NEDA and PSAI Region 6, were also highlights.
“This broad lineup of initiatives played a crucial role in helping UPV StatSoc clinch the award, which recognizes organizations that make significant contributions to NSM through various statistical activities,” the university said.
The criteria for the “Best NSM Agency” award include the range of statistical activities conducted, participation in regional and national NSM events, volunteerism, and the sharing of resources and expertise.
Established in 1990, NSM promotes public awareness of the importance of statistics in national development.
