A GROUP of students from the University of the Philippines Visayas was the regional champion in the 23rd Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition held over the weekend.

The Financial Executive team was composed of fifth-year accountancy students Leigh Anne Camince, Vince Dela Peña, Cathlyn Ann Ganancial, Jessa Mae Javillo, and Lance Nicoudemus Tionko.

The FINEX team, mentored by Lourence Delfin Jr., will be among 23 schools that will compete in the national finals next month.

The team also ranked 4.5 nationwide, UPV said.

The ICFC is a knowledge-based academic competition for finance, banking, and economics that aims to find the best finance teams in colleges and universities.

The sponsors in the competition are JPMorgan Chase & Co., NOAH Business Applications,PwC Isla Lipana & Co.,CFA Society Philippines and Institute of Management Accountants-Philippines Chapter, FTI Consulting and PHINMA Foundation, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
