UPV PROF WINS BEST POSTER PRESENTATION IN 23RD SPVM NATIONAL CONFERENCE

A PROFESSOR from the University of the Philippines Visayas won the best poster presentation at the 23rd National Physics Conference of the Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao.

Reilly Bautista was recognized for his work titled “First-principles calculation of carbon dioxide adsorption on nickel-decorated graphene.”

“His work was created for the competition’s Biophysics/Complex system/High Energy Physics/Computational Physics category,” UPV said.

“He is co-author of ‘Effect of Cu-doping at the Mo-site on electronic properties of monolayer MoS2: A density functional theory study’, which is a paper that was presented orally for the same category,” it added.

There were three categories for oral and poster presentations.

The first category covered Material Science, Condensed matter, and Nanotechnology. The second category included materials on Biophysics, Complex systems, High energy Physics, Medical Physics, and Computational Physics.

The third tackled Physics Education/ Demonstration/ Fundamental and Physics.

The three-day National Physics Conference was hosted by Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, Caraga State University Philippines, and Cagayan State University.

It was attended by Filipino speakers along with other respected researchers from around the globe.
