UPLB PROHIBITS SUBMISSION OF REQUIREMENTS AMID WELLNESS BREAK
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Los Baños barred faculty members from imposing deadlines during the week-long wellness break that started on April 29,, 2021.
Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr. said the directive would give students more time to catch up on their course requirements for the first half of second semester.
“In view of the BOR-approved Reading/Wellness break from 29 April 2021 to 5 May 2021, please be reminded that conducting synchronous class sessions and/or asynchronous class activities and requiring students to submit course requirements during the Reading/Wellness Break are strictly prohibited,” Camacho said.
He added that faculty members may impose grade deductions for late submissions based on work quality but not based on factors that are “beyond controlling.”
“Let us be one in meeting the purpose of the reading/wellness break and let us continue to look after ourselves, our students, and one another,” he said.
The students lauded the declaration of a wellness break, saying they “badly needed it as online classes are already draining them.”
