THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines’ Board of Regents had given the go-signal to the UP-Los Baños to offer a BS Mechanical Engineering degree program.

The course is under the  College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology.

BSME is the sixth engineering degree program offered by the university, the others being BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS Chemical Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, and BS Industrial Engineering.

“CEAT has long planned the offering of BSME after the BOR approved its reorganization at its 1107th meeting on 17 April 1997,” the university said.

In 2019, the college hired two faculty members with Mechanical Engineering background to lead the development of the BSME curriculum.

The committee was composed of Dr. Jovita Movillon as chairperson, Engr. Marita Natividad De Lumen as co-chairperson, and faculty members representing the departments under CEAT.
