UPLB AND ASIAN UNIVERSITIES HOLD SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Los Baños and three other Asian universities conducted the 20th International Symposium on Advanced Technology recently.

The other schools are the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the University of Danang-University of Science and Technology. The event was organized by Japan’s Kogakuin University of Technology and Engineering.

Held on November 23-24, the event revolved around “Advanced Technologies for SDGs [Sustainable Development Goals].”

The presentations and discussions covered a wide range of topics, including biochemistry, food science, electric and electronic engineering, computational science, advanced functional materials, energy and transportation, information and communications technology, human studies, architecture, and environmental chemistry.

UPLB Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr. highlighted the connection between ISAT-20 subjects and SDGs as well as the value of inclusivity.

“It is imperative that we work together to be part of not only finding and developing sound and sustainable solutions to our society’s most pressing concerns, but also of striving to make these solutions and technologies more inclusive and accessible especially to communities and nations which need them most,” Camacho said.
