/ 6 April 2024

A GRADE 10 student of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo won first prize in Metro Iloilo Water District’s on-the-spot poster-making contest held last month.

Daniel Herradura, a Grade 10 student, bested other participants to claim the top prize.

“Herradura’s design may be used for MIWD’s information and advocacy activities, which may include informational posters, online campaigns, advocacy and corporate shirts, and activity tarpaulins, among others,” UPV said.

In recognition of his achievement, Herradura was awarded a cash prize of P7,500 along with a certificate of excellence.

He was coached by UPHSI faculty Dr. John Barrios and was accompanied by Mr. Airvin Genesila during the actual competition.

The criteria for judging included relevance to the theme (30%), technical merit (30%), creativity (30%), and originality (10%).

The poster-making contest was mounted as part of the World Water Day celebration with the theme “Water for Peace.”

MIWD partnered with its Joint Ventures Corporations, Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation, and Metro Pacific Iloilo Water, Inc., to make the event possible.
