UPD UNIVERSITY LIBRARY EARNS MULTIPLE HONORS IN PAARL 2025

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Diliman University Library garnered multiple recognitions during the 2025 General Assembly of the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc. held last week.

The UL was cited for its achievements in research, extension, and library infrastructure, reinforcing its role in advancing academic librarianship in the country.

For research excellence, UL staff members Chloe Maeve Domingo and Nicole Zulueta received the PAARL 3rd Best Research Award for their paper “From Research Made Easy to TALASIK: A Mixed-Methods Assessment of the UP Diliman University Library Instruction Program.

The paper evaluated TALASIK, the university library’s information literacy and instruction initiative.

The UL’s Librarians Empowerment Action of Diliman program was also named PAARL Outstanding Library Program of the Year in recognition of its sustained extension efforts that deliver information literacy services to communities beyond the university.

Meanwhile, the UPD College of Engineering Library Learning Commons was conferred the Innovative Library Design Award under the large-size library category.

Inaugurated in March 2025, the Learning Commons features technology-enabled spaces designed to support research, collaboration, and hybrid learning, including discussion rooms, faculty work areas, conference facilities, and exhibit spaces.
