UP VISAYAS PROF WINS IN 69TH FAMAS AWARDS
PROFESSOR Kevin Pison Piamonte’s short film “SOLO” was named the Best Short Film in the 69th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards held on Sunday, December 12.
The University of the Philippines Visayas professor made history for having the first Ilonggo short film to win a FAMAS.
“The film is an introspective sketch of people whose lives are affected by mental health issues,” UPV said in a statement.
“It is produced by ERK Film Production and the University of the Philippines Visayas through its Creative Work Grant,” it added.
Recently, SOLO was also awarded Best Film in the Quisumbing-Escandor Film Festival for Health.
Established in 1952, FAMAS Awards is composed of prize-winning writers and movie columnists.
