/ 26 June 2023

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines-Visayas continued its partnership with the World Health Organization, Department of Health and the local government of Antique to launch the Project Kasing-kasing, Healthy Heart Program.

Officials from UPV, Antique LGU, PhilHealth, WHO and DOH signed a Pledge of Commitment last week “to symbolize the support of the various stakeholders to all the endeavors and activities of the project.”

The event marked the beginning of the third phase of HHP which will cover several municipalities in the province of Antique.

The HHP aims to reduce morbidity associated with noncommunicable diseases including cardiovascular ailments.

The second phase covered the municipalities in the first congressional district of Iloilo province.

Several projects implemented included training and capacity-building activities, blood pressure monitoring and provision of medical equipment among others.

“UP Visayas is a strong partner of DOH-CHD and WHO Philippines during the Healthy Hearts Programme Phase II providing support in various aspects such as program implementation review, policy making, training of Barangay Health Workers, and production of information and video materials,” the school said.
