UP, UST DROP IN 2022 QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

/ 10 June 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines and the University of Santo Tomas dropped a few notches from their previous rankings in the 2022 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings.

UP fell to 399th spot, three places lower than its 2021 ranking, while UST fell to the 1,001-1,200 bracket from the 801-1,000 bracket in the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University maintained their rankings at 601-650 and 800-1000, respectively.

“This year, having extended our list, universities are competing with even more peers. While all Filipino universities perform poorly in the research indicator and in the internationalization indicators, all four improved their standing with the employers who took part in the QS global survey and all bar one saw a rise in the Academic Reputation indicator,” QS Research Director Ben Sowter said.

QS uses indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio and international research network.
