UP TO KEEP ORIGINAL ACADEMIC SCHEDULE
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines said that it will stick to its original academic schedule because it is concerned over the domino effect of another class suspension on an already tight school year.
Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo gave assurances that the university is “doing its best” to respond to the needs of the students.
“I give you my assurance that UP Diliman is doing its best to respond to your needs, especially those who have been most affected,” he said.
“We know that many have been experiencing immense physical and mental difficulties, fear, loss, isolation, grief, financial pressure, and various other stresses and uncertainties,” he added.
Nemenzo urged students and faculty to strive hard to make “classrooms” not only spaces for academic practice but opportunities for connection and meaningful engagement, for communicating care and building a sense of community.
UP Diliman, he added, will set up additional support programs for students and faculty in need.
