UP STILL LISTED AMONG ASIA’S 100 TOP UNIVERSITIES

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines remained in the list of top 100 schools in Asia,  according to education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds.

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines remained in the list of top 100 schools in Asia,  according to education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds.

The country’s premier state university placed 77th, eight spots lower than its position in the 2021 QS Asian University Rankings.

To assess the schools, QS used 11 indicators — academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with PhD, international faculty, international students, inbound exchange students, and outbound exchange students.

“This set of criteria, developed in consultation with regional experts and stakeholders, is designed to reflect key priorities for universities in Asia, drawing on as much available data as possible,” QS explained on its website.

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas improved their rankings at 124th, 160th, and 177th, respectively.

In the 2021 edition, ADMU placed 135th, DLSU was at 166th, and UST ranked 186th.

Two Philippine universities that were unranked last year entered the 2022 list — Cebu Technological University (651+) and Lyceum of the Philippines University (651+).

Other Philippine universities in the 2022 list include Ateneo de Davao University (501-550), Mapua University (501-550), Silliman University (501-550), Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (551-600), Central Luzon State University (601-650), Xavier University (601-650), Adamson Univeristy (651+),  Central Mindanao University (651+), Central Philippine University (651+).

The top 10 universities in Asia for 2022 are:

  2. Peking University (China)
  3. The University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
  4. Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
  5. Tsinghua University (China)
  6. Zhejiang University (China)
  7. Fudan University (China)
  8. Universiti Malaya (Malaysia)
  9. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong)
  10. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China)
