UP PROFESSOR FAVORS GRADUAL SHIFTING OF SCHOOL CALENDAR

/ 11 April 2024

AN ASSOCIATE professor of University of the Philippines favors the gradual shifting of school calendar as the students and teachers also need to have rest or break.

Kaya nga dapat ready tayo sa online classes dahil ‘pag tag-ulan ay isa namang problema ‘yan,” Lizamarie Olegario, also an educational psychology specialist, said in a radio interview.

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio earlier said that reverting to the old school calendar cannot be rushed as the school break for students and teachers should not be compromised.

Meanwhile, Olegario said that guidelines such as signal levels on the suspension of face-to-face classes should be implemented amid extreme heat.

Manila Rep. Joel Chua proposed implementation of heat signal levels which would establish standard measures and protocols on the heat index.
