UP OPEN UNIVERSITY TO OFFER MASTER OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Open University will offer Master of Research and Development Management program in the first semester of AY 2020-2021.

The 36-unit online graduate program was designed to develop knowledge and skills in effective leadership of government and private research development organizations and research funding institutions.

“It aims to produce graduates who are able to demonstrate enhanced managerial leadership with an R&D-oriented perspective in organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating R&D organization; influence the transformation of R&D system as a productive, dynamic, cost-effective, environmentally adaptive, socially relevant, ethical and development-oriented organization; and lead in implementing strategic R&D management innovations in technology generation, commercialization, and societal development,” the university said.

The program will be offered in thesis and non-thesis tracks.

“The MR&DM program will be offered as a ladderized program. This will allow Diploma in Research and Development Management students to transfer to the MR&DM program upon completion of the core courses of 21 units with a GWA of 2.0 or better. MR&DM students may also apply for transfer to the DR&DM program,” the university said.

The development of the curriculum and course material was funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development.
