LAW students from the University of the Philippines were among the octafinalists in the International Rounds of the 2022 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
LAW students from the University of the Philippines were among the octafinalists in the International Rounds of the 2022 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
The team was composed of Aloysius Francis Bresnan, Berenice Joanna Dela Cruz, Czar Matthew Gerard Dayday and Adrian Gabriel Padilla.
They were mentored by Professor Patricia Valeña and Professor Carlo Borromeo as coaches, and Professor Rommel Casis, who served as faculty adviser.
“After four Preliminary Rounds and four Advanced Rounds, the team qualified for the Elimination Rounds, where they defeated Germany to advance to the top 16 as World Octafinalists,” UP said in a Facebook post.
In the Preliminary Rounds, Dela Cruz emerged as the Best Oralist of the World while Padilla was awarded as the 10th Best Oralist.
Bresnan was awarded as 24th Best Oralist in the Advanced Rounds.
The Jessup Moot Court Competition is the biggest and most prestigious moot court contest in the world, with teams from more than 60 countries participating in the International Rounds.
