LAW students from the University of the Philippines have emerged as finalists in the 29th Stetson Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition Southeast Asian Regional Rounds.
The UP-Law Stetson Team was composed of Yogee Dy-Liacco Mann, Angelica De Dios Mercado, and Sarahlyn Dato Revillo.
Revillo was awarded Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds, standing out among over 100 speakers from the region. The team also secured the Runner-up award for Best Memorial.
Their exceptional performance earned them a spot as one of Southeast Asia’s representatives in the International Rounds, which will be hosted by Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida.
The team was mentored by Professor Rommel Casis, along with former Stetson participants Michiko Lokin and Bob Ecarma.
The competition featured 27 teams from six countries, making this year’s regional round the largest in the event’s history.
The moot problem addressed complex legal issues surrounding subsistence use and trophy hunting, focusing on the balance between indigenous practices, endangered species protection, and bilateral trade treaties.
