/ 27 December 2023

UNIVERSITY  of the Philippines Diliman held a solidarity night for at least seven Palestinian refugee families who temporarily stayed at the Palma Hall of the university after flying from Gaza to the Philippines last December 7, 2023.

Various organizations sponsored the event titled ‘We are Palestine’, which featured diverse live performances such as poetry conducted by the members of progressive groups.

Secretary of the All UP Academic Employees Union Diliman Chapter Francezca Kwe said that the event aims to show the support of the UP community for Palestine and the refugees who are staying at the campus.

“It also aims to highlight the people’s outrage over the genocide being committed by the Israeli government, with the support of the US government, against Palestinians,” Kwe stated.

Meanwhile, one of the refugees and members of the Philippine-Palestine Solidarity Center Annel Abu Tawila expressed her gratitude to the community and the organizers who helped them while they were staying in the vicinity.
