UP CEBU TO HOLD VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ON RESILIENCE
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines-Cebu, through the Central Visayas Studies Center, will conduct a one-day virtual conference on how to adapt during uncertain times.
The conference, with the theme “Knowledge, Innovation, and Resilience in Uncertain Times”, will feature diverse research papers of six faculty members from four Colleges of UP Cebu.
The conference will be held via Zoom on October 28, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
“In the morning, Prof. Januar Yap will read excerpts from his novel Arkipelago; Prof. Jay Nathan Jore will present his curatorial project on the vernacularity and aesthetics of the everyday in Cebu’s contemporary design; and Dr. Lorna Almocera will present her teaching module on advanced mathematics,” the university said.
“In the afternoon, Dr. Tiffany Tan will present her research work on ethics in data analysis – viewpoints from two cultures; Prof. Regletto Imbong will present his anthropological paper, ‘The Good Food in a Technological World: Focal Things and Practices’; and lastly, Dr. Belinda F. Espiritu will present on the discourses of resistance by and for the Lumad against the neoliberal hegemony in our country,” it added.
