UP BAGUIO TO OFFER PHD IN INDIGENOUS STUDIES
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Baguio will soon offer a Doctor of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies.
The program was designed to employ interdisciplinary perspectives in engaging with historical and contemporary issues confronting IP in the Philippines.
Students have the option to take the course full-time for three years or part-time for four years.
Under the program, graduates will be grounded in theories and frameworks which will enable them to teach, conduct and publish research or implement programs on indigenous issues.
UP Baguio said it seeks to give value on indigenous epistemologies. It is also projected to contribute to the efforts in Indigenous Peoples’ education.
The doctorate for Indigenous Studies will be the university’s second doctorate degree program.
