UNIVERSITY OF SAN CARLOS STUDENT WINS IN NAT’L RESEARCH CONVENTION

A STUDENT from the University of San Carlos in Cebu placed first in the Oral Research Presentation category in the 2023 Philippine Pharmacists Association National Convention.

Lord Sam Liston, a BS Pharmacy student, was recognized for his study “Chemical Permeation Enhancers for Topically Applied Vitamin C and its Derivatives: A Systematic Review.”

The study was co-authored by Precious Lorraine Rivas.

It bested four other finalists and 50 submissions nationwide which tackled different themes such as drug discovery and development, academic pharmacy and digital pharmacy, among others.

Liston was mentored by Dr. Florencio V. Arce Jr., who served as his research adviser, and Dean of School of Health Care Professions Dr. Gerard Lee See.

With the theme “Transformational Pharmacy Practice for Sustainable Healthcare,” the annual convention gathered over 5,000 pharmacists in the country as well as industry executives and other affiliated organizations.

The event also hosted plenary sessions, trade exhibits, research competitions (poster), and a general assembly.
