UNIVERSITY OF BAGUIO SSC APPEALS FOR ACADEMIC EASE AND LENIENCY

/ 8 August 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of Baguio Supreme Student Council appealed before school administration to implement an ‘academic ease’ and help students cope with distance learning.

A letter sent by the SSC to the Office of the Vice President Affairs said the appeal is in consideration to their less fortunate peers as well as for their mental health.

“The pandemic brought by Covid19 and its variants has been causing a lot of adjustments. Some students might find it to be more favorable because of the ease of studying at home…not all are privileged to have comfortability in engaging through online classes,” the letter read.

“Families were affected financially, forcing some students to rearrange their list of priorities and give up their studies to focus on helping their parents suffice their daily needs,” it added.

The student body requested an academic break, continuation of leniency and lessen the academic workload, enhancement of the implementation of no academic deadlines during holidays, and reduction of miscellaneous fees, among others.

It also echoed its call for the safe resumption of face-to-face classes.

The first semester of the Academic  Year 2021-2022 at UB is scheduled for August 9.
