/ 1 October 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of Antique launched the second phase of its Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology program at its Tario Lim Memorial Campus.

The program, rolled out in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology, seeks to help selected barangays enhance their food security.

“The project aimed to provide comprehensive technical service and processing equipment to UA TLMC and selected barangays to engage in fish and niche-food processing and strengthen disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation by providing appropriate technologies and capability building trainings,” UA said on Facebook.

The project was launched virtually on Thursday.

The first phase of CEST was implemented from 2017 to 2019 in 18 municipalities in the province.

It focused on livelihood, health and nutrition, human resource development, environmental protection and conservation, and disaster risk reduction.

Under the project, a food production facility was established in the university’s Sibalom campus.
