UNIBERSIDAD DE MANILA LAUNCHES GADGET LENDING PROJECT

/ 8 October 2020

THE UNIBERSIDAD de Manila launched a gadget lending project for its students as the school rolled out distance learning.

The project dubbed ‘Tablet para sa Mag-aaral ng UdM’ aimed to assist the ‘poorest of the poor’ students amid the Covid19 pandemic, the UdM said.

The university will distribute 1,010 Samsung tablets. The gadgets were donated by Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna.

The UdM will also distribute prepaid mobile wifi kits which were acquired from the donated salary of the school’s president, Malou Tiquia.

The school identified 190 students who will receive the gadgets through a census conducted by its Information Communication and Technology Department for Senior High School and college students.

“Every student who enrolled and uploaded their requirements online had to accomplish a questionnaire. We did the same during the 2nd Semester, AY 2019-2020, to assist our students via peer learning. The census today is a continuation of the effort we have done in the 2nd semester,” ICTD Director Francis Atienza posted on UdM’s Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the school has yet to unveil its academic calendar.
