UMAK FINDS STUDENT’S NON-ADMISSION POST BASELESS

/ 24 July 2022

THE UNIVERSITY of Makati denied the accusation of one of its former students who alleged the school denied her of enrollment due to red-tagging concerns.

The denial came after a certain Athea Beatrice Papa said she was not readmitted at the school due to security concerns and joining activist groups.

Papa said she stopped her education due to financial constraints amid the pandemic which led her to become an activist.

She then decided to enroll at UMak to resume her studies on July 2022.

The school said no situation occurred and only the rescheduling of the interview to a later date.

It also denied the statement of the Kabataan Partylist that it discourages mass organizations and said accredited groups under UMak are urged to hold activities.

“We wish to assure Makatizens and the public that the University of Makati remains committed to the city’s mission of providing quality but affordable tertiary education so citizens from the less privileged sector can be gainfully employed and be able to help uplift the quality of life of their families,” UMak said in a statement.
