UEP ADOPTS FREE MEALS FOR POOR STUDENTS
THE University of Eastern Philippines has committed to combat hunger by providing free meals to students below the poverty line.
UEP said a total of 200 students will be covered under the #UEPCares program, and will receive one meal a day from the university.
This is part of the school’s Inclusive Education Advocacy, where UEP campuses, Laoang and PRMC, will also participate.
The program will run for the entire Academic Year 2024-2025.
According to the National Economic and Development Authority, the poverty incidence in Eastern Visayas is at 28.9 percent among its population, which still equates to thousands.
