UE URGED TO ALLOW UNIFAST RECIPIENTS TO ENROLL

/ 4 December 2021

A STUDENT group at the University of the East asked school officials to allow recipients of UNIFAST Tertiary Education Subsidy with outstanding balance to enroll in the 2nd semester of Academic Year 2021-2022.

The UE Admissions Office earlier announced that TES checks for the first semester have been received by the school.

The Central Student Council, however, claimed that several students “struggled” with their outstanding balance.

The student group urged the UE administration to waive their balances and allow grantees to use their subsidy in paying their current tuition fees.

“TES grantee who has an outstanding balance, including those without due balance from SY 2020-2021, may enroll without paying the P10,500 down payment,” it said in a letter to UE President Ester Garcia.

“Having this initiative from the administration has a great value to students who indeed need assistance to settle their balances,” it said. “We wish for your consideration for the students of the University.”

RA 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education law provides financial assistance to close to 1.8 million students in public and private colleges and universities through free tuition and miscellaneous fees and the TES.
