UE TO STUDENTS: USE GOOGLE ACCOUNTS FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY
THE UNIVERSITY of the East told students to use Google Accounts for academic purposes only.
A report by the school’s publication UE RedWire said that the university’s IT department said that it will downgrade Google storage space for student mail accounts to 15 gigabytes effective on June 15.
“The University will be implementing the Google Workspace for Education new storage policy, which will limit UE users to a 15GB storage for all actively enrolled students,” it said.
“The 15GB storage limit will be distributed to all Google applications like Google Drive, Gmail, Google photo files, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawing, and Jamboard,” it added.
To avoid data loss, the school advised students to back up their important files on or before June 15 using the Google Takeout service at https://takeout.google.com/.
“Google Takeout is a service offered by Google that backs up all of our Google account’s data into one file, which you can then download,” it said.
