TWO Computer Science students from the University of the East  bagged 2nd Runner-Up in the ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ASEAN DSE) National Finals held online last week.

The awardees are Jamie Noreen C. Ferrer and John Adrian B. Cruz.

ASEAN DSE is a regional initiative that challenges students across the 10 ASEAN member nations to harness data analytics in addressing social, health, and environmental issues.

The Philippine national finals featured the country’s Top 10 teams, with Ateneo de Manila University emerging as champion and the University of the Philippines Mindanao taking 1st Runner-Up.

Ferrer and Cruz were mentored by College of Computer Studies and Systems professors Edmon Torres and Marc Ligas, who guided them in refining their project and pitch.

UE said the recognition highlights the talent and innovation of its Computer Science students, bringing pride to the university.

“Congratulations, Computer Science warriors Jamie and John—UE Warriors leading the way in innovation!” it said on Facebook.
