UE STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN TOKYO FESTIVAL FARM 2022
A STUDENT of the University of the East-Caloocan was chosen as one of the participants in the Asian Performing Arts Camp in Tokyo Festival Farm 2022.
Angelo Miguel Chua, a third year BFA major in Visual Communication student, will represent the Philippines in the three-month performance art camp after besting other applicants across the world.
Chua will present his proposal titled “Performing Hybridity–Photojournalism as a tool for theater making,” which was inspired by the concept and ideals of “wabi sabi” or traditional Japanese aesthetics on October 16, 2022.
He is also part of the “Lab” program that aims to cultivate young professionals who can freely navigate the fluid borders of the world.
“Mr. Chua’s theater background and photography obsession over the symmetry, the perfection of a shot, and composition brought him to encounter the ideals and philosophy of wabi sabi,” the university said.
Tokyo Festival Farm is a framework for education outreach and creative talent development. It was launched in 2021 by combining Asian Performing Arts Farm, a platform promoting exchange and growth among young artists in Asia.
