UE SHS STUDENT WINS GOLD IN HONG KONG SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

A SENIOR high school student of the University of the East won a gold medal in the Heat Round of the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad 2023.

A SENIOR high school student of the University of the East won a gold medal in the Heat Round of the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad 2023.

Grade 11 student Jhon Rex Malones bested his competitors in the right minus wrong contest from other countries to clinch the gold medal.

Malones also showcased his exceptional skills in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Integrated Science.

UE Caloocan teachers Karlo Vincent John Calanog and Frederick Deliva mentored the student.

The school commended the student for his achievement.

“This is en route to the Olympiad’s final round, to be held in Singapore around July 2024! Congratulations and kudos, Senior High STEM Warrior! And best wishes at the final round of this international science competition!” the school wrote on Facebook.

HKISO is an International Science Competition held annually and consists of four categories namely, physics, biology, chemistry & integrated science.

The competition is for students from Grade 2 to Grade 12 and follows the Hong Kong School Science Syllabus which tests what students learned on their level of content.

Winners in the Heat Round can have a chance to work with participants from different regions to try out some experiments in Singapore or Hong Kong.
