UE EYES FACE-TO-FACE GRADUATION

/ 11 March 2022

THE UNIVERSITY of the East is considering conducting face-to-face graduation rites for batch 2021-2022.

University President Ester Garcia said that in-person ceremony will push through if conditions allow.

“UE is your second home, and we are considered in loco parentis,” Garcia told students.

Student groups previously asked the school administration to let them experience in-person graduation, pointing out that numerous outdoor and mass-gathering activities are now allowed.

They said that such ceremony is “one of the most important moments for every student.”

“The least thing we could do is to allow all the students to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event before taking a bigger step to the real world,” they stressed.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier said it is time to allow in-person graduation ceremonies.

Gatchalian emphasized that “parents and students should be able to fully relish their moments of pride” as a school graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.
