UE CALOOCAN STUDENTS WIN JURY’S HONORABLE MENTION AWARD AT NAT’L FILM FEST
AN EXPERIMENTAL-mystery short film created by students of the University of the East Caloocan bagged the Jury’s Honorable Mention Award at the recently concluded 3 Shots Film Festival.
Awang by Awanggan Studios was produced by BA Communications students Ruth Nicole Modina Jhon Villanueva, Mary Louise Dery, Hazel Grace Juaton, Joan Nicole Lazaro, May Ann Kaye Aniano and Glaiza Macadangdang.
The five-minute film depicts a dark metaphorical story about aiming for power and victory.
“In the same competition last year, the UE-based production team was among the top 20 finalists for their earlier film Living, which was written and directed by Mark Jhon Villanueva. That film was also exhibited in Baguio’s Montañosa Film Festival last March 2022,” UE said.
Organized by MUD Studios in association with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Cinematheque Center, the 3 Shots Film Festival is a showcase of compelling stories unveiled through just three shots or cuts, envisioned to create a vibrant community of filmmakers, be they professionals or amateurs.
This year’s judges were local and foreign award-winning film directors and personalities.
