UE CALOOCAN STUDENT WINS 4TH DOST-YOUTH EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE AWARD

A GRADE 12 student from the University of the East-Caloocan has won the Department of Science and Technology’s Youth Excellence in Science Award for the fourth consecutive year.

Jhon Rex D. Malones was recognized for his exceptional talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

“Malones’ story is a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in STEM education and nurturing the talents of our youth,” said UE.

“As we celebrate Malones’ achievements, let us also be inspired to continue promoting STEM education and creating more opportunities for young people to excel in these fields,” the university added.

Over the past year, Malones has earned multiple accolades in international STEM competitions, including a Gold Award at the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad and several top prizes in mathematics contests such as the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad and the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad.

In technology, he demonstrated exceptional programming skills, securing the Gold Award in the Hong Kong International Computational Olympiad-Python Category, further solidifying his status as a global STEM achiever.

The DOST-YES Award is a prestigious recognition for young achievers who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in STEM. The award includes the coveted YES medal.

The recognition reflects the DOST’s commitment to fostering scientific innovation, promoting diversity in STEM, and supporting education and career pathways that contribute to national progress.
