UDM CLARIFIES IT IS DIFFERENT FROM UM

/ 10 April 2025

THE UNIBERSIDAD de Manila has clarified that it is a separate institution from the University of Manila-College of Law, following news of the latter’s closure.

“We would like to emphasize that the UDM College of Law is not closing and continues to operate as usual, having substantially complied with LEB requirements over the past several years,” it said in a statement.

The clarification came after photos of UDM’s facade circulated in various lawyers’ Facebook groups, mistakenly linking UDM to the law school recently ordered closed by the Legal Education Board (LEB).

“In fact, over the past five Bar Examinations, our performance has been consistently improving, with our graduates earning competitive passing rates—a testament to the strength and quality of our legal education,” it added.

The LEB ordered the closure of the University of Manila-College of Law effective Academic Year 2024–2025 due to its “failure to meet the minimum standards set.”
