THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu on Tuesday extended its condolences to the family of a nursing student who reportedly committed suicide inside the campus grounds.

“The entire UC community extends its deep condolences and commits to provide support to the family,” UC said in a statement.

Opao Police Station of Mandaue City Police Office said in a report that the student, whose name was withheld, allegedly took his own life on Monday morning.

Police Major John Libres said that the victim jumped from the 10th floor of the school building, based on CCTV footage.

The university said that it is investigating the matter and asked for respect and privacy for the family of the victim.

It added that counselling will be provided to the students who were distraught by the incident.

“Valuing the welfare and well-being of all, UC is currently conducting debriefing and counseling sessions to those who may be affected by the incident,” it added.
