UA HANDS OUT IMPROVISED OIL BOOM TO PCG
TO HELP control the oil spill caused by the sinking of a tanker in Oriental Mindoro, the University of Antique has turned over improvised oil spill booms to the Philippine Coast Guard.
A total of 706 booms were handed on Thursday by UA to the 606th Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron and Philippine Coast Guard Station.
The oil spill caused by the sinking of the MT Princess Empress which was carrying 800,000 liters of industrial fuel had spread from Mindoro to Palawan.
UA has two campuses that could be affected by the oil spill in the Island of Caluya and the northern municipality of Libertad.
All UA campuses were directed to make containment booms to help authorities control the spread of the oil spill.
