TWO FEU STUDENTS WIN IN INT’L TOURISM CHALLENGE

TWO students of the Far Eastern University were part of the winning teams in the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education Global Revenue Management Challenge 2021.

Hotel and Restaurant Management students John Guile Cruz and Lorraine Dayle Laconsay were members of Team 7 and Team 9 that won 1st and 3rd places, respectively.

“Cruz and his teammates from other schools were awarded with a $AUS1500 scholarship to any member of THE-ICE, and free registration on the Certification in Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Industry Analytics offered by STR SHARE Center and on the Hospitality Business Acumen Certificate program offered by Russell Partnership Technology,” FEU said in a statement.

“Meanwhile, Laconsay and his teammates received free registration on the Hospitality Business Acumen Certificate program,” it added.

Dr. Anna Pamela Jonson, faculty member of FEU-Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, served as the winning team’s mentor.

Other FEU-ITHM students who participated in the THE-ICE GRM were Joshua Bogador, Kate Samantha Caballa, John Meynard Chan, Hal Ethan Constantino, Nehemiah Ferrer, Mae Antonette Lacsa, Ace Gabrielle Macalinao, and Maria Ysabel Mendiola.

THE-ICE was established in 2004 by the Australian Federal Government to develop benchmarks and promote excellence in tourism, hospitality and events.

This year, a total of 55 students representing 10 institutions around the world participated in THE-ICE GRM Challenge 2021.
