TIP PARTNERS WITH MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY
TO FURTHER enhance research on sustainability and planetary health, the Technological University of the Philippines collaborated with Sunway University in Malaysia.
TIP and Sun-U agreed to bolster the quality and volume of research in Asia for three years.
Under the partnership, the school’s newly minted Center for Advanced Batteries will work closely with Sun-U’s Center for Nano-Materials and Energy Technology to produce durable lead acid batteries.
“Most of the things that have been powering the world’s economy and way of life need to be deeply decarbonized. Research on how to obtain cleaner energy is something that Southeast Asia must take a lead on, especially since we have access to lots of natural resources,” TechnoCoRe Catalyst Principal Researcher Dr. Drandreb Earl Juanico said.
The two universities are also considering implementing a visiting professorship and student exchange program and a comprehensive review and development of each other’s curriculum.
“The institution is leveraging its collaborations to establish regional research networks, share valuable knowledge, and make a global impact,” Sun-U President Prof. SibrandesPoppema said.
TIP President Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz said that the community of researchers and inventors are strengthened when experts from various countries unite.
“When platforms for learning extend beyond the classroom, we transform our students to be curious, research-oriented, innovative and responsive to societal needs,” she stressed.
