TARLAC STATE U WINS AWARDS IN GOLDEN PALM 2022 WAPA
THE TARLAC State University has once again proved its excellence in the performing arts when 10 of its entries won in the Golden Palm 2022 organized by the World Association of Performing Arts.
TSU Performing Arts Dance Troupe ranked first in two Grand Prix-Large Team competitions where it performed the Tinikling and Bumayah.
The group also placed first in the Grand Prix-Small Team with the folk dance Ragragsakan and in the Trio Dance Category and Duo Folk Dance Category.
The event was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from December 16-22, 2022.
“The three winning entries in the Trio Dance are Man Manok, Binasuan, and Amaemeytok, while the Duo Folk Dance winning entries are Aray, La Jota Moncadeña, La Jota Gumaqueña, and La Jota Tarlaqueña,” TSU said.
“These dances were performed last December 20, 2022,” it added.
The dance troupe was also awarded by the WAPA as the Best International Folk Dance Ensemble in Southeast Asia.
The international association conferred on Professor Marcelino Balanquit, the head of TSU’s Culture and Arts Section, the Best International Folk Dance Director of 2022 award.
