TARLAC STATE U PARTNERS WITH PURA LGU
THE CENTER for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development at Tarlac State University has signed three partnerships with the local government of Pura to promote community empowerment and create a nurturing environment for the youth.
The agreements, signed on November 13 at the Pura LGU auditorium, will implement three externally funded projects by the Pura LGU:
– Program Revitalization of Information System Management (Project PRISM)
– Consultancy and Research on Localizing Child Protection Policy (CARE PURA)
– Pura’s Folklore: From Oral Tradition to Documented Heritage
“We are building a relationship, and a relationship cannot last without love, so that’s what we do in Pura. Because today, we are going to bind our families of TSU and the municipality of Pura… We are here, the TSU, to bind today for this significant event so that we may be able to share our expertise together with the different faculty members of TSU and share this for free because it is our commitment and dedication,” said Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao, CCLGSPD Director.
TSU President Dr. Arnold Velasco reaffirmed the university’s pledge to share its expertise with the community, while Pura Vice Mayor Bernabe Idmilao expressed gratitude, noting the projects’ benefits for Pura residents.
CARE PURA focuses on establishing a localized child protection policy, offering legal support through TSU’s School of Law, and providing guidance counseling via the Psychology Department. This initiative aims to monitor and support children at risk and educate the community on child protection through printed materials and programs.
The Pura’s Folklore project aims to preserve local heritage by documenting the town’s oral traditions and creating educational materials for schools. Using folk tales, the project promotes literacy and gender sensitivity.
Lastly, Project PRISM will aid Pura’s digital transformation by establishing a modern database system to improve LGU planning and services, including data migration and staff training.
These projects will be in effect until 2026, continuing TSU’s longstanding support to Pura LGU in community development since 2016.
