TARLAC STATE U PARTNERS WITH ISOCARP

/ 26 September 2024

THE TARLAC State University has partnered with the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) to enhance research, capacity building, and international networking opportunities.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by key officials from TSU and ISOCARP.

TSU is the first state university in the Philippines to collaborate with ISOCARP for its 60th World Planning Congress – 1st International Congress for New Cities.

This partnership offers faculty and students from the College of Fine Arts opportunities to present research, network with global urban planning experts, and participate in capacity-building programs like training and workshops.

“This partnership with ISOCARP is a significant achievement for TSU because out of all the SUCs in the Philippines, we were invited to participate in their World Planning Congress,” said University President Dr. Arnold Velasco.

“We’ve showcased our talents through the Performing Arts Dance Troupe and the exhibit by CAFA. This is our way of promoting our institution to the rest of the world,” he added.

The 1st International Congress for New Cities: Planning New Regenerative Cities marks the start of ISOCARP’s 60th WPC Diamond Anniversary Series. The event is organized by ISOCARP and hosted by a local committee led by the Provincial Government of Tarlac, headed by Gov. Susan A. Yap.

The College of Fine Arts will organize a technical tour of Tarlac, focusing on urban planning projects in New Clark City and highlighting local sustainable practices and community development.

TSU also took part in the ribbon-cutting for the exhibit, which featured 33 booths showcasing traditional snacks, crafts, and innovative technologies from local sellers.

ISOCARP is a non-governmental organization of professional urban and regional planners with a mission to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable through integrative, participatory urban and territorial planning.
