THE SOUTHERN Leyte State University has designated Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy as its officer-in- charge while waiting for the appointment of a new president.

SLSU on Monday said that Sy, the vice president for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, will sit as the OIC until a new head gets elected.

Sy’s appointment was approved by the SLSU Board of Regents through its Resolution No. 192, s. 2022.

“As you sit as the new steward of the university, for the time being, the whole academic community wishes you the best as you take on this important role. Congratulations, Dr. Sy!” SLSU said.

SLSU President Dr. Prose Ivy Guasa Yepes is set to finish her term.

She was first elected as president in 2014 and got a renewed term in 2018 after a unanimous vote from the Board of Regents.
