SUSPENSION OF CLASSES IN PUP CAMPUSES NEAR TAAL SOUGHT

/ 8 July 2021

THE OFFICE of the Student Regent of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines sought the suspension of classes in campuses near Taal Volcano.

The group posted its appeal on Facebook on Wednesday, citing the continuing explosions of the volcano.

It added that residents near the volcano are being evacuated, several of whom are PUP students.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology placed Taal on Alert Level 3 because of its magmatic unrest and possible explosive eruption.

The group also called for the extension of submission of modules to help the students affected by the volcano’s eruption.

There are PUP branches and campuses in Maragondon, Cavite, and in Biñan, San Pedro, Sta. Rosa and Calauan all in Laguna province.
