/ 29 June 2022

THE SURIGAO State College of Technology has been conferred university status by the Commission on Higher Education.

The SSCT is now the Surigao del Norte State University through Republic Act 10600 which was signed in 2018.

SNSU was known as Surigao del Norte School of Arts and Trades in 1969. It was renamed Surigao State College of Technology in 1998.

The news about the conferment of university status was announced last Thursday during the 93rd Regular Board of Trustees meeting at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

THe school said that the transition took nine years of hardwork and labor. It added that the status upgrade was “the life-long dream of the administration, faculty, staff, students and the people of Surigao del Norte.”

“The commitment and passion of the faculty members, staff, and students are the driving force towards the realization of the conversion. Forward-looking, SNSU dreams again of producing entrepreneurial graduates who can help and contribute to the progress of Surigao del Norte and to the country. All of these will contribute to our nation’s greater height,” SNSU President Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa, Jr. said.
