SOUTHERN LUZON STATE U DECLARES 2-DAY MOURNING AFTER DEATH OF 3 TEACHERS
THE SOUTHERN Luzon State University in Lucena City in Quezon province has declared a two-day mourning for three faculty members who died in a road accident in the municipality of Tiaong on Wednesday.
SLSU President Doracie Boleta-Nantes released a memorandum declaring July 27-28, 2023 as mourning period for the teachers.
The school said that it will provide vehicles to faculty and staff who will head to Tiaong and Dolores to pay their respects to the teachers.
“With this, everyone is requested to offer fervent prayers for their souls and the wellbeing and welfare of the family and friends,” Boleta-Nantes said.
The university president also encouraged everyone to refrain from sharing and posting videos of the accident that may cause secondary trauma.
According to police, the victims were just crossing the highway after leaving the Tiaong campus when they met the accident.
The three were taken to two different hospitals in the nearby Candelaria town but succumbed after sustaining severe injuries.
